Ndubuisi Emmanuel Egbo, a former goalkeeper for Nigeria, has entered the race to coach the Super Eagles.
According to Pulse Sports Nigeria, Jose Peseiro left the team after a 22-month tenure, and the search is now on for the next Nigerian coach.
After his achievement in Albania years ago, Egbo—who created history as the first African coach to win a major European league title—spoke about his position with the Super Eagles.
In an interview with Channels TV, Egbo stated, “It is my country; even though I have a European passport, I am 100% Nigerian.
“I’m willing to assist whenever needed to improve Nigerian football, since I believe the country can eventually challenge to win the World Cup, something we haven’t done in a very long time.
“Regarding the potential to oversee the Nigerian position if it were offered, he said, “So, I’m always open; we can never say never to our country.””Whenever we are called upon, we have to serve our country, just like in the military,” he continued.
The 50-year-old guided KF Tirana to their first league victory in eleven years during the 2019–2020 campaign in Albania.
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Egbo participated in two Africa Cup of Nations competitions, winning 12 caps.
He began his coaching career as a goalkeeper coach after retiring, and three years ago he worked his way up to become the manager of Tirana.
