Dele Momodu criticises Federal Government over New Waec and Neco ages

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has come under fire from well-known Nigerian journalist and businessman Dele Momodu for its recent decision requiring pupils to be at least eighteen years old in order to sit for the National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams.

Since its announcement on August 26, the new mandate has generated a lot of discussion, with many people doubting the policy’s viability.

Concerned residents have expressed concern about what will happen to recent secondary school graduates—who are usually between the ages of 15 and 16—during the years they must now spend in between before being eligible to appear for university entrance tests.

Dele Momodu weighed in on the situation and expressed his worries on Instagram. In opposition to the new policy, he emphasized Dr. Dorothy Jean Tillman’s outstanding accomplishments.

Tillman graduated from Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions with a doctorate in integrated mental health at the age of 17.

Her first university course was at the age of ten, and by the time she was fourteen, she had earned an Associate Diploma, a Bachelor’s Degree, and a Master’s Degree. Dr. Dorothy Jean Tillman graduated with a doctorate from Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions at the age of 17.

Dele Momodu’s post read:
“Meet this Chicago teenager, Dorothy Jean Tillman. Ms. Tillman has just become the youngest person in the world to obtain a PHD Doctorate at the age of 17.

She took her first university course at the age of 10. At the age of 14, Dorothy Jean Tillman had obtained an Associate Diploma, a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree. Now, at the age of 17, she is Dr. Dorothy Jean Tillman. Respect!”

“And Federal Government via Ministry of Education is saying Nigeria children should wait till 18 years before they write WAEC, NECO and JAMB.”
