During Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing sex trafficking trial, rapper Kid Cudi took the stand and told a very personal story about fear, violence, and a high-profile love triangle. Scott Mescudi, the artist’s real name, said that the hip-hop mogul got very angry when he found out that Cudi had briefly dated Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. According to Cudi, his relationship with Cassie began in 2011, at a time when he believed she was no longer involved with Combs. But what looked like a private romance quickly turned into a scary situation.
Cudi said that Cassie called him in a panic one morning in December and said that Combs had hit her with a wine bottle opener. Fearing for their safety, the pair fled to a nearby hotel. Cudi found out that someone had broken into his house when he got home. His dog was locked in the bathroom, presents were opened and someone messed with his security cameras.

Weeks later, someone set fire to his Porsche outside his house. Photos shown in court showed that the car had been set on fire with what looked like a Molotov cocktail. Cudi remembered running into Combs at a Soho House in Los Angeles and calling him “a Marvel supervillain.” While Combs denied involvement at the time, he allegedly apologized years later. Still, Cudi stood firm in his testimony, saying, “I knew Sean Combs was violent,” and added that their relationship ended out of fear.
