IGP Extends Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement to October 2, 2025

Vehicle owners with tinted windows have just been given more breathing space, as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has moved the enforcement date for the tinted glass permit requirement to October 2, 2025.

The announcement, made in a statement by Force PRO Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Monday, follows what the police describe as a “significant surge” in online applications through the official portal.

Why the Extension?

According to Adejobi, the extension will give the Force time to scrutinise applications and ensure permits go only to those who are eligible and qualified, in line with national security concerns.

“The extension will also provide room for continued fine-tuning of both digital and physical verification processes, to maintain the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse,” Adejobi explained.
