Despite the hold-up, Ordoñez trained normally with his teammates on Friday and remains confident the transfer will eventually go through.

However, the 20-year-old has once again been left out of Brugge’s matchday squad for their Belgian Pro League clash away to Zulte Waregem on Saturday.

Since joining Brugge from Independiente del Valle in 2022, the Ecuador youth international has made over 40 appearances in all competitions, quickly becoming a reliable name in defence.

Marseille’s Defensive Overhaul Continues

This transfer pause comes even as Roberto De Zerbi made it clear in his pre-match press conference that OM’s transfer window is far from over.

Les Olympiens have already signed Facundo Medina (Lens) and CJ Egan-Riley (England U21 international) to reinforce the backline. Still, the club is keen on adding at least one more central defender before the window closes.

But omo, this Ordoñez deal wey hang like this fit drag longer if Marseille no quickly meet Brugge’s demands.

What Next?

For now, it’s a waiting game. Club Brugge want assurances, Marseille need reinforcements, and Ordoñez is caught in the middle, hopeful of a move that will push his career to the next level.
