OGC Nice have officially sealed the signing of Salis Abdul Samed, bringing the Ghanaian midfielder over from Ligue 1 rivals RC Lens.
The 24-year-old once shone as a key figure in Franck Haise’s Lens side that finished second two seasons ago. But omo, football no dey wait for anybody — his importance faded the following year, and last season he was sent out on loan to Sunderland.
Injury Struggles in England
At Sunderland, Abdul Samed’s time was marred by injuries. He only managed three league starts, and despite the club’s promotion to the Premier League, he wasn’t kept on.
When he returned to Lens this summer, it became obvious that he had no future at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
Nice Beat Competition to Secure Him
While there was interest from clubs in Turkey, Abdul Samed decided to stay in France. Nice have not disclosed the transfer fee or contract details, but L’Équipe reports that the deal is worth around €2m, with a three-year contractagreed.
Fresh Start on the Côte d’Azur
For Abdul Samed, this move represents a fresh chance to revive his career after injuries derailed his progress. For Nice, it’s a low-cost gamble on a player who, when fit, has shown he can boss the midfield.
Omo, Ligue 1 transfer window no dey slow down at all oo!
