Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley has praised Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for their lively display in Manchester United’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Arsenal edge it, but Utd duo shine
United fell short after a first-half strike from Riccardo Calafiori sealed the win for the Gunners. But according to Burley, Cunha and Mbeumo still caused plenty of problems for Arsenal’s defence.
“What they [Man United] have shown against Arsenal is that they are definitely better with that front line,” Burley told ESPN FC.
“Cunha and Mbeumo were a threat and there were moments in the first half where Arsenal left gaps, but United didn’t have that striker inside the box to take advantage.”
New boys showing promise
Both forwards arrived at Old Trafford this summer — Cunha from Wolves and Mbeumo from Brentford — and have already started to win fans over with their pace, work rate and attacking spark.
Omo, even though United lost, these two showed glimpses that the Red Devils’ attack no go dull this season.
