The Lagos political and healthcare space is buzzing after a new revelation about the state’s 2025 Q2 budget performance. According to SaharaReporters, several commissions, parastatals, and even major hospitals across the state allegedly received zero funding during the first and second quarters of the year.
Omo, this one painful oo – hospitals wey people dey rely on for health care, dem talk say money no reach them at all!
Agencies Allegedly Left With Zero Allocation
The budget performance review reportedly showed that under capital expenditure, some critical agencies got nothing despite being allocated billions in the approved 2025 budget.
Among them are:
- Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC) – allocated ₦130.4m, received nothing.
- Local Government Service Commission – allocated ₦515.5m, received nothing.
- Lagos Consumer Protection Agency – allocated ₦570.3m, received nothing.
- Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service – allocated ₦50.1m, received nothing.
- Health Monitoring & Accreditation Agency – allocated ₦173.8m, received nothing.
- Accident & Emergency Centre (Drugs & Consumables) – allocated ₦72.2m, received nothing.
- LASEMA & Emergency Command Centre – combined budget of over ₦336m, received nothing.
- Wastewater Management Office – ₦975.7m allocation, zero funding.
- Public Procurement Agency (LASPPA) – ₦440m allocation, nothing received.
Omo, the list long no be small – and that’s not even the most shocking part.
Over 20 Hospitals Reportedly Affected
According to the report, more than 20 general hospitals and healthcare centres across Lagos State allegedly received no capital funding during Q1 and Q2 of 2025.
Some major hospitals on the list include:
- General Hospital, Lagos – ₦741m allocation, zero funding.
- Gbagada General Hospital – ₦810m allocation, nothing released.
- Ikorodu General Hospital – ₦1.02bn allocation, nothing received.
- Badagry General Hospital – ₦270m allocation, zero funding.
- Lagos Island Maternity Hospital – ₦540m allocation, nothing received.

The report also listed Ifako/Ijaiye, Shomolu, Orile Agege, Mushin, Eti-Osa Maternal & Child Care, ABAT Centre, Ibeju-Lekki, and more, all with zero funding.
This revelation is causing serious uproar because these hospitals are the backbone of healthcare in the state.
Workers Cry Out: “This Is Oppression”
This development comes months after SaharaReporters earlier reported in April that healthcare workers accused Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration of betrayal and financial oppression.
Workers complained of unexplained deductions from their salaries, with some allegedly losing between ₦200,000 and ₦600,000.
Omo, imagine earning your salary only for hundreds of thousands to disappear, and at the same time hospitals are reportedly getting zero funding. That combo go pain anybody!
The Big Question
Healthcare workers have now raised concerns about the government’s priorities, stressing the vital contributions of the health sector to Lagos’ economy.
The question many are asking is simple: if hospitals and critical agencies are not receiving their budgeted allocations, where exactly is the money going?
This revelation is bound to keep the conversation hot in the coming weeks, especially as Lagosians continue to face high healthcare costs and limited hospital resources.
