Super Eagles star Moses Simon opened his goal account for Paris FC, but omo, his strike could not save the French club from a heavy 5-2 defeat to Olympique Marseille.

The Ligue 1 clash started badly for Paris FC, with Marseille coming out all guns blazing. Mason Greenwood struck early before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the lead within the opening 24 minutes.

Paris FC, however, refused to roll over. Ilan Kebbal pulled one back in the 28th minute to give the visitors hope. Then came the moment Nigerian fans were waiting for — Moses Simon stepped up and equalised just before the hour mark, bringing the score to 2-2.

Omo, at that point ehn, it looked like Paris FC might actually pull off a shock result at the Velodrome. But Marseille had other plans. Aubameyang grabbed his second of the night, Emile Højbjerg added another, and Robinio Vaz sealed the win, making it a painful evening for Simon’s new club.

The 29-year-old winger only joined Paris FC from Nantes earlier this summer and had made his debut against Angers last weekend. His first goal will no doubt boost his confidence, even if the result was disappointing.

Fans online have been buzzing, with many praising Simon’s sharpness and work rate despite the defeat. One Nigerian supporter allegedly wrote: “Simon na baller abeg, Marseille just too strong today.”

Omo, one thing is clear — if Simon keeps this form, he’ll be a key man for Paris FC this season, regardless of the early struggles.
