Brentford Revive Interest in Saint-Étienne’s Lucas Stassin

Brentford are back in the hunt for Lucas Stassin (20), with L’Équipe reporting that the West London club are pushing to convince AS Saint-Étienne to let their young striker go before the transfer window closes.

The Belgian youth international had already been on Brentford’s radar earlier this summer, but talks went quiet as the Bees pursued Arnaud Kalimuendo from Stade Rennais. Unfortunately for them, Kalimuendo chose to sign for Nottingham Forest, leaving Thomas Frank’s side still short of attacking options.

Now, with time running out and the Yoane Wissa case still unresolved, Brentford have reignited their chase for Stassin.

Last season, the 20-year-old was one of the few bright sparks in a tough campaign for Saint-Étienne, bagging 12 goals in 28 league appearances. Despite his strong performances, Les Verts failed to hold onto their Ligue 1 status, making the striker even more eager to test himself at a higher level.

However, Saint-Étienne are not desperate sellers. The club have already rejected a €15m bid from Stade Rennais, holding firm on their valuation and making it clear they won’t be bullied into losing their top prospect cheaply.

With the clock ticking, the question is simple — will Brentford up their offer and convince Saint-Étienne to cash in, or will Stassin be forced to wait a little longer for his big Premier League move.
