The race for Georges Mikautadze is heating up, and guess what? Aston Villa have just thrown their hat in the ring in a big way. According to French journalist Marc Mechenoua, Unai Emery’s side have submitted an offer worth €25m to Olympique Lyonnais as talks continue between both clubs.

Even sweeter for Villa fans — personal terms with the Georgian striker are reportedly already agreed. Omo, this one don dey move fast!

The competition is fierce

The 24-year-old has become one of the hottest names in the transfer market over the past few days. Clubs like BrentfordVillarrealBurnley, and even an unnamed Saudi Arabian side are circling.

But Villa seem to be moving ahead of the pack, with their offer on the table and the player open to the move.

Lyon’s dilemma: sell or hold firm?

Now here’s the twist. Lyon ideally don’t want to lose Mikautadze, especially after Alexandre Lacazette (34) walked away as a free agent to Saudi side Neom.

But Lyon’s financial problems are no secret. The club reportedly need to raise around €40m in sales before deadline day, otherwise trouble dey ahead.

According to L’Équipe, Lyon are demanding €35m for their striker — which means Villa’s €25m bid still dey short by €10m. Wait first… will Villa go higher, or Lyon go chop loss?
