Today in Monaco, the BlueCo-owned side were drawn in the UEFA Europa Conference League against:

  • Crystal Palace (England) – at home in Strasbourg
  • Aberdeen (Scotland) – away trip
  • Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia) – away trip

Omo, this one sweet die for Strasbourg fans sha — 19 years of waiting finally over!

Familiar faces in an exciting tie

The clash with Crystal Palace will have an extra flavour. Former Brighton men Liam Rosenior and Valentin Barco will now face Palace, Brighton’s Premier League rivals. Wait first, that rivalry spice go make this fixture extra hot!

The full match calendar is expected to be released over the weekend.

Palace’s UEFA downgrade drama

Interestingly, Palace only found themselves in the Conference League after UEFA downgraded their European qualification. Despite winning the FA Cup last season, they were meant to play in the Europa League.

But here’s the twist — under UEFA’s multi-ownership rules, Palace failed to place shares owned by businessman John Textor (also linked with Lyon) into a blind trust in time. That error cost them, and they were moved into the Conference League.

Since then, Textor has stepped back from his Lyon presidency, handing the role to Michele Kang. This decision allowed OL to avoid administrative relegation to Ligue 2 by French football’s financial watchdog, the DNCG.

Omo, Palace fans go still dey vex about that downgrade, but at least it sets up a fiery European clash against Strasbourg.
