Farouk Aliyu Defends Late Buhari, Slams Nigerians for Posthumous Criticism

Former Minority Leader of the House of Reps, Farouk Aliyu, has come out to express deep disappointment over the way some Nigerians have been reacting online following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Aliyu—who was a close ally of the late president—said it’s “unfortunate” that people are using social media to attack a man who just passed away.

“Each of us must have done something wrong to someone… Buhari is no exception,” he said, urging Nigerians to respect the dead regardless of their opinions about his time in office.

Aliyu didn’t sugarcoat it—he admitted Buhari had flaws like every human, but stressed that his efforts toward Nigeria’s development shouldn’t be swept under the rug.

“Though Buhari had his shortcomings, he should be respected and praised for his own contribution to our national growth,” he added.
