Reports in Spain have taken a fresh twist this week over Barcelona’s alleged swoop for Atlético Madrid’s rising defensive star, Gerónimo Spina.
According to Mundo Deportivo, rumours swirled last week that the Catalan giants had already convinced the 20-year-old centre-back to ditch Atlético Madrid and sign for them this summer.
For context, Spina is one of the most highly-rated young defenders in La Liga, and whispers of Barcelona plotting his move got fans buzzing. It was even claimed the Blaugrana had reached an agreement in principle to lure him to Camp Nou.
