French giants Olympique de Marseille (OM) were interested in securing the services of Kobbie Mainoo (20), according to Foot Mercato. But Manchester United have closed the door firmly on any move.
Mainoo, who is yet to start a Premier League match this season under new head coach Ruben Amorim, is believed to have asked for a loan move to gain consistent minutes ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
But wait first… United’s response? Big no. The Red Devils have made it clear that the young midfielder remains part of their plans, at least for now.
Marseille’s midfield headache continues
Marseille, meanwhile, are in desperate need of reinforcements in midfield. Omo, this one pain OM fans sha, because their targets keep slipping away:
- Adrien Rabiot is still frozen out of Roberto De Zerbi’s setup.
- An attempt to lure Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid collapsed, even after OM reportedly reached an agreement with Los Blancos.
This leaves the French side scrambling for options, as De Zerbi looks to build a squad capable of competing in Ligue 1 and Europe.
Will Marseille return for Mainoo?
While reports claim OM might make another push, the chances look slim. With United unwilling to sanction a loan exit, Mainoo is expected to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.
Marseille now turn their attention back to domestic duties, as they prepare for a huge Ligue 1 clash against Lyon this Sunday. Fans will be watching closely to see if any fresh midfield signing arrives before the transfer window slams shut.
