Olympique de Marseille (OM) are pushing to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko (28) from Arsenal, according to The Athletic’sDavid Ornstein.

The Ukraine international is now in the final months of his four-year deal in North London, and Marseille see him as the perfect reinforcement for their left side. But wait first… this move no go be small o, because Zinchenko’s wage demands could be a stumbling block.

Club president Pablo Longoria and sporting director Medhi Benatia are said to be working behind the scenes to see if a deal can realistically happen before Monday’s deadline.

Why Marseille want a new left-back

Marseille’s urgency for a left-back didn’t just start today. They’ve had gaps to fill after Quentin Merlin left the Vélodrome to join Ligue 1 rivals Stade Rennais.

So far, OM have:

  • Explored a loan for Kostas Tsimikas (Liverpool)
  • Tried to seal a deal for Emerson Palmieri (West Ham United) — but nothing has been confirmed yet

Now, omo this one don enter deadline tension, Zinchenko has emerged as their prime target.

Talks ongoing before the window closes

Reports suggest discussions between Arsenal and Marseille are active, but nothing is final yet. The big question? Whether Marseille are willing — or even able — to match Zinchenko’s wage demands.

With Champions League football returning to the Vélodrome this season, OM want to strengthen their squad quickly. Fans will be watching closely over the weekend to see if Zinchenko becomes the man to fill that left-back role.
