Nigerian football sensation, Victor Osimhen, has opened up about the real reason he’s always spotted wearing a protective face mask during matches — and omo, this one is deep.
In a recent sit-down with media personality Daddy Freeze, Osimhen disclosed that he has iron inserted in his face following a serious facial injury. According to the football star, he had to undergo a major jaw surgery after a damaging collision on the pitch.
“The doctor came and said we have to do surgery, and I have to do it as quickly as possible. I have iron in my face,” Osimhen stated.
Omo, imagine playing top-level football with metal in your face!

He further explained that although he was initially hesitant, he had no choice but to trust the medical experts who prioritized a swift response to save his career and health. The surgery also involved removing a fragment from his jaw, which added to the complexity.
Why He Still Wears the Mask
Despite the surgery being successful, Osimhen continues to wear the mask — not just as a precaution, but also as a symbol of the journey he’s been through.
Just to Clarify:
This revelation was made during an interview, and while it’s coming directly from Osimhen himself, we note that certain medical details are still based on his personal recount.
