Omo this is painful! Imagine submitting your sensitive data to a government agency and next thing — it’s wrapping fried beans cake on the street?

That’s exactly what a lady identified as Oluwa Damisi is claiming happened after she applied for a Nigerian international passport.

From Application Form to Akara Wrapper?

According to her post on X (formerly Twitter), Damisi said she had submitted her biodata form to the Nigeria Immigration Service, only to be contacted by a stranger on WhatsApp who allegedly saw the form being used to sell akara (bean cake).

Omo this gist dey somehow oo.

She shared a screenshot of the chat where the man reached out to her with a photo of the passport slip — containing full personal information like her full name, contact, and other details.

To make matters worse, the man even had the audacity to ask her for pictures after exposing the situation. 🤦🏽‍♀️

She Wrote:

“@nigimmigration @NISResponseNG why is it so easy for someone’s privacy to be breached??! Someone just texted me on WhatsApp with a picture of my passport application slip, and it was used to sell akara.

The slip contains every single information about my life rn. This is not even funny. The guy then asked for my pictures on top.”

Mixed Reactions Online

As expected, netizens didn’t hold back:

  • @RowlandJ_nior said: “Okay I’m shocked at this one. And I noticed how you played cool with him, just to keep him sane.”
  • @Sam_Olayemi1 wrote: “Data breach is not peculiar to Nigeria. Even in the US and Europe, data breach happens. We can simply ask the government agencies to do better without denigrating Nigeria.”
  • @olatayoadewuyi added: “If them explain Nigeria give you, you no fit understand.”

The Nigeria Immigration Service is yet to release an official statement as of the time of this report.
