Spanish giants Barcelona will have to kick off their next Champions League campaign without manager Hansi Flick on the touchline.

Omo, this is going to be hot — and not for a good reason.

Reports confirm that UEFA has officially slammed the German tactician with a one-match ban and a €20,000 fine ahead of the competition’s new season.

What Really Happened?

According to UEFA’s disciplinary statement, the punishment stems from Flick’s behaviour, along with that of his coaching staff, during Barcelona’s Champions League exit last season.

The Catalan side were knocked out at the semi-final stage in heartbreaking fashion after a 120-minute extra-time defeatto Italian giants Inter Milan at the San Siro.

But omo, the tension that night ehn… Barcelona’s camp reportedly felt hard done by several refereeing calls. In the heat of protests, UEFA claims Flick “took things a step too far.”

The Official Sanction

As per Marca, UEFA’s decision reads:

“Hansi Flick has been fined €20,000 and banned for one match in UEFA club competitions for breaching the general principles of conduct (Art. 11(1) DR) and violating the basic rules of decent conduct (Art. 11(2)(b) DR).”

And it’s not just Flick — assistant coach Marcus Sorg has also been handed the same punishment.

Omo, that means Barcelona will start their Champions League journey without their full technical crew on the bench.

The Bigger Picture

This development leaves Barcelona in a tricky spot. Opening matches in the Champions League can set the tone for the whole campaign, and losing the head coach for the first game could be a big blow.

For now, the club hasn’t issued any fiery statement, but football fans are already buzzing over whether this ban will impact their performance early in the competition.
