Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga announced the changes in a statement released Tuesday in Abuja, revealing that Mr Chisom Obih has been appointed to the Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State. This follows the unfortunate passing of a former council member.

More Big Names in the List

But wait — omo, this is where it gets interesting. Tinubu also appointed Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye to the Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Akinfeleye, a well-known name in Nigerian media circles, is the former Head of the Department of Mass Communication at UNILAG and Chairman of the Centre of Excellence in Multimedia and Cinematography, which runs Unilag Radio 103.1 FM and TV. He has also served on the Governing Council of Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja.

He replaces Mr Wahab Owokoniran, who is now the Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Transport, Daura, Katsina State.

New Leadership at Zamfara University

Omo, it didn’t stop there — the President has also appointed Prof. Ibrahim Yakasai as the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe, Zamfara State.

Alongside him, Mr Hamisu Yelwa becomes the Registrar, Usman Nakazalle Sanusi is now the Bursar, and Dr Shehu Liman takes over as Librarian.

Prof. Yakasai, a retired Nigerian Army Colonel and current Provost of Bayero University’s College of Health Sciences, is no small name in the medical field. He has multiple fellowships, a Master’s in Medical Education from the UK, and leadership roles in Nigeria’s top health institutions.
