Former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has caused a major stir in the political scene after officially resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The flamboyant politician did not just walk away quietly — he dropped heavy words that have sparked nationwide reactions.

Dino’s Exit Letter Goes Public

In a letter dated July 4, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 1, Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Dino declared that he was cutting all ties with the party — and he meant every level. The letter, which has now gone viral, was also shared via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, July 31.

“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party at all levels of involvement,” the letter read.

Omo, e no end there. He went on to throw serious shade at the PDP’s current structure, calling out what he described as a “lack of potency and capacity” to address Nigeria’s deep-rooted issues.

PDP’s Credibility Called Into Question

According to Melaye, his decision came after deep reflection on the party’s direction — or as he put it, lack thereof. The former senator, who also contested the 2023 Kogi governorship under PDP, stated that he could no longer continue to align with a platform that, in his view, is no longer in tune with the nation’s urgent needs.

He wrote:

“Having carefully reflected on the state of the party, I can no longer in good conscience participate in the activities of the party or lend my support to her agenda.”

He rounded off the letter with a formal withdrawal from PDP activities at all levels, effective immediately.

Dino Officially Joins ADC

And just when you thought that was the end, Dino took it a step further — he’s now officially a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In a follow-up video shared online, the ex-lawmaker made it clear that his political journey isn’t slowing down — just shifting base.

Omo this move go definitely scatter table inside PDP. Many netizens are already speculating about what his next big step might be — another governorship run or something even higher?

Final Thoughts

As expected, Dino’s exit from PDP has sent ripples across Nigeria’s political space, with some praising his boldness and others questioning the motive behind his timing. Whether you’re a fan or a critic, one thing is sure — Dino knows how to command attention.

Let’s see how ADC handles this new heavyweight. Because with Dino, political drama is always guaranteed.
