The 2025 UTME controversy will never die out—and now, a prominent educational advocacy group is beginning to raise its voice.

The Reaction of Concerned Parents and Educators (CPE) Initiative calls for the digital overhaul of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s examination system.

In their view, it is time for JAMB to go completely operational on cloud technology if it intends to right the technical issues plaguing it over time, especially with the UTME examinations.

This concerns arose during the recent online dialogue of CPE from their platform entitled JAMB Crisis: Way Forward, which saw experts of education and tech innovators join hands with concerned parents.

The organization did not get soft: Let JAMB shift to a cloud-powered infrastructure to increase the stability of the exams, reduce system crashes, and make data more secure.

This year’s UTME saw candidates all over Nigeria complaining about various glitches—ranging from login errors to system shutdowns. Many candidates complained of unfair grading. Some claimed that wastage was regional; that they were discriminated against during result processing.

Well, CPE is not interested in throwing stones. Their suggestions include:

Permitting several UTME windows yearly so candidates will have options and will not have to be stressed on the assigned exam day.

Setting up accredited CBT centres in the rural areas to reduce travel costs and promote inclusivity.

Empowering fraud-detection systems to prevent malpractice.

Collaborating with faith-based and private institutions to uplift public schools.

Joshua Ozugbakun of Tuteria and Alex Onyia of Educare, two of the major dignitaries at the conference, pushed for the urgent reform of education nationally. They issued a caution against making JAMB the scapegoat, citing deeper issues such as lacklustre teacher training and parental absenteeism.

Mrs. Yinka Ogunde, founder of the CPE Initiative, stressed that the forum was only the beginning. “This is the first of many conversations. Real change requires consistent collaboration between government and the private sector,” she said.

With frustration mounting, Nigerians hope that JAMB will finally listen before the next exam season turns into a national embarrassment once again.

JAMB has been engulfed in a wave of outrage as more than 8,391 candidates have reportedly lodged formal complaints about their 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. The candidates are asking for the release of their full mark sheets while alleging poor scores and serious technical failure from JAMB.

The development was shared in a post on X (previously Twitter) by the user @winexviv, who stated that the affected candidates filled out formal complaint forms expected to be submitted in court in an effort to force JAMB into releasing the detailed breakdown of their scores.

“Currently, we have 8,391 students who have sent in their complaints regarding the glitches in the JAMB 2025 exam,” @winexviv wrote. “There’s plenty of evidence that JAMB’s system was inefficient, causing serious harm to these students’ mental health.”

These aggrieved students believe system errors might have been at play during the CBT whereby an answer of theirs was wrongly recorded. Therefore, they are demanding full transparency so that the issue can be addressed.

As more people began to engage with the post, reactions poured in from candidates and parents frustrated with JAMB’s lack of accountability, the country’s poor tech infrastructure, which has now weighed down Nigerian students emotionally.

A Nigerian student was admitted to the hospital after a severe anxiety attack resulting from an unsatisfactory score in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The emotional outburst has raised concerns on social media about the ever-increasing mental pressure placed on students in Nigeria’s academic system.

The devastating news was made public on TikTok by the victim’s sister with the username @big_ellaa7. The video shows the younger brother on a hospital bed, unable to come to terms with the shock of his result.

According to her, the student really worked extremely hard and was very hopeful when he sat the exam. “He came back full of joy because he felt he answered everything correctly,” she said, adding that he studied really hard, putting so much effort and hope into the exam, only to be disappointed by the results.

My caption read: “My brother after seeing his JAMB score. He had an anxiety attack. He was rushed to the hospital. He studied like his life depended on it.”

Though she never revealed the woman’s score, she insisted that it was so devastating that it made a man crack emotionally and physically. “2025 JAMB did him dirty. I can’t even ask someone in the hospital what his score is,” she lamented.

Since then, many Nigerians have taken to the social media platform to sympathize with the family and call for integrated mental health awareness programs and support for students.

One man of Nigerian origin is making waves across social media after it was revealed that he sat for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, exam for 10 years – from 2008 to 2018.

The astonishing truth was posted on X (formerly Twitter) when he replied to a viral post asking how many times users have written the exam, and in his elongated response, the man revealed his score each year from participating in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

2008: 203 – UniLag.

2009: 242 – UniLag.

2010: 252 – Unilorin.

2011: 275 – Unilorin.

2012: 270 – UI.

2013: 240 – NDA.

2014: 185 – NDA/AFIT (ND).

2015: 216 – NDA.

2016: 237 – NDA (Last Attempt).

2017: D.E (Direct Entry).

2018: 275 – AFIT Kaduna (Cybersecurity).

He said: “Didn’t fail anytime” in great pride as he mentioned that he completed his degree in Cybersecurity.

The news quickly spread online and as expected, it resulted in many reactions all over social media. While others joked here and there about the weird path, many praised his resilience.

Here are some reactions:

@to1uwa: “Why you write 10 times bro? I mean you only failed once.”

@PearlAremu: “Are you now a soldier or an impersonator? Just asking cause I’m in AFIT.”

@godwin_anebi: “JAMB should offer you a plaque of recognition!”

A couple of candidates eligible for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have been killed in a road accident that transpired along the Oyo-Ogbomoso road in Oyo State. Reports which were made known on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) alleged that brake failure was the cause of the accident.

These were students heading to their examination centers for the UTME. However, as of the time of writing, the exact number of casualties and identities of the victims were yet to be officially disclosed.

Following the wretched news, many Nigerians took to social media to express their grief, anger, and frustration about the whole event. Comment sections were filled with condolences, prayers for the deceased, and attacks on the systemic issues bedeviling the country’s educational and transportation structures.

User @Plug08066 mourned: “May the souls of the departed rest in peace. This is why it is very important to elect leaders who focus on education and health, rather than voting based on tribal sentiments, which leads only to regret.”

Another user, @omoiyaonikoko1, commented on the effectiveness of the policies of JAMB registrar: “The JAMB registrar should resign. His policies have made candidates go through unnecessary hardship. What was wrong with the traditional way of writing JAMB? Now innocent souls are lost.”

@EsievDarneal addressed systemic failures, stating: “Everything is wrong in this country. Exam fixes that start as early as 6a.m. are unsafe. Why can’t students take entrances right there at the schools they apply to?”

As for @Kickflowdown, “I thought students were supposed to choose their exam location? Why are candidates being posted to far places like NYSC camps? That creates room for racketeering and puts lives at risk.”

“This same lament is what I wrote about JAMB last year: sending students to distant centers and fixing exams so early. In a country that is insecure, compromising young souls like that is unacceptable. JAMB should answer for those deaths,” wrote @comrade_lekan1.

The anguish surrounding this incident has provided strong motivation for the calls for reform in the educational and transport sectors of the nation.
