The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed that the preliminary draw for the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will go down on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 — and all eyes are on the Nigerian clubs heading to battle.

According to CAF, the draw will be staged in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where the fate of Remo Stars, Rivers United, Abia Warriors, and Kwara United will be sealed for the opening round of their continental journey.

Let’s break it down small.
Reigning NPFL champions Remo Stars and seasoned campaigners Rivers United will fly the country’s flag in the CAF Champions League. And omo, both clubs no dey go there for vibes — they’ll be chasing history, trying to become the first Nigerian club to lift the trophy since Enyimba’s iconic win in 2004.

Omo, over 20 years don pass o. Pressure dey!

On the other hand, Abia Warriors and Kwara United will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup. This will be a major test for both clubs, especially with Nigeria still yet to win the Confederation Cup. Yep, not even once. E choke.

So, this upcoming draw no be just formality — it’s the beginning of what could be a defining campaign for Nigerian club football on the continent. The opponents they draw could either give us an easy runway or wahala from day one.

As for the fans? Everyone’s already doing mental calculations and scouting potential threats. Who go jam Al Ahly? Who fit enter group stage without wahala? We go soon find out.

Omo, August 12 is about to be hot, no cap!
