Experienced tactician Salisu Yusuf has reportedly left Nasarawa United to take up a lucrative coaching job in Benin Republic, marking his first-ever managerial role outside Nigeria.

According to reports, the 63-year-old coach, who previously served as assistant coach for the Super Eagles, is already in Cotonou to finalize the deal with his new employers. Omo, no be small move be this — from Lafia to international bench!

Yusuf only took charge of Nasarawa United during the second half of last season, but in that short time, he helped the Solid Miners escape relegation and even guided them to the semi-finals of the President Federation Cup.

E no easy to enter mid-season and still pull off those results sha. Respect.

But just when fans were hoping he’d stick around and build something long-term, boom — man don japa. What’s more, sources claim that Kano Pillars, his former club, also tried to lure him back, but the deal from the Beninoise side was simply too tempting to turn down.

Although the identity of the Benin Republic club hasn’t been officially disclosed, reports making rounds suggest that the offer came with better financial incentives and new challenges, prompting Yusuf to make the switch.

And guess what? This is the first time in his coaching career that Salisu will be working outside Nigeria — a major career leap, especially at this stage.

Yusuf is widely respected in Nigerian football circles, having handled clubs like Kano Pillars and Enyimba, as well as serving under multiple national team setups. His move to Benin could open more doors for other home-based Nigerian coaches looking to step onto the international scene.
