Speaking on the fourth day of RCCG’s ongoing International Convention, themed “The Overcomers”, Pastor Adeboye said he believes his departure will be sudden, peaceful, and free from sickness.

“It Will Be on a Sunday After Church” – Adeboye

According to the cleric, he envisions that the day will be a Sunday. He will attend church service, return home to eat his favourite pounded yam, and then pass on quietly.

Omo, just picture that — no hospital bed, no sickness, just peaceful rest.

This isn’t the first time Pastor Adeboye has shared the revelation. He first spoke about it two years ago but said he was repeating it to remind Christians that death, for believers, doesn’t have to be fearful or painful.

Message to Believers: “Possess Your Possessions”

Delivering a sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions”, the 82-year-old preacher reminded Christians that while blessings such as healing, prosperity, and long life are theirs through Christ, they often require spiritual effort to claim.

“In many cases, you may have to fight for things that are already yours,” he said, citing the biblical account of the Israelites’ journey to the Promised Land.

Fighting for What’s Yours

Omo, this part go touch some people — Pastor Adeboye stressed that although Jesus has paid the price for healing and prosperity, believers must still resist spiritual forces trying to take them away.

Quoting John 10:10, he said:

“Your greatest friend, Jesus Christ, paid a great price to purchase your healing. Yet there is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy.”

On wealth, he added:

“The One who owns the earth and its fullness, and owns all the silver and gold, paid a terrible price so that you wouldn’t be poor. As long as you want to remain poor, you will remain poor.”

“Stop Tolerating What Disturbs You”

Pastor Adeboye also spoke against the societal tendency to criticise successful Christians, noting that people often question one’s faith whether they succeed or fail.

Using biblical examples like Rachel and Hannah, he urged Christians to refuse to accept sickness, poverty, barrenness, or premature death.

“It is what we tolerate that disturbs us. Stop tolerating sickness, poverty, barrenness, or premature death. Fight to possess your possessions,” he said.
