Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has earned a historic nomination for the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards, DAILY POST reports. The 24-year-old is in the running for the Yacine Trophy, which honours the Best Women’s Goalkeeper in the world.

Omo, this one sweet die! First African ever to get this nomination? History has been made o!

A Year of Outstanding Performances

Nnadozie’s nomination comes after a sensational year at both club and international level. Earlier in May, she was the hero for Paris FC in their Coupe de France Féminine final against Paris Saint-Germain.

In that tense clash, Nnadozie produced a crucial save in the penalty shootout, helping her side secure a dramatic 5-4 victory.

From Paris Glory to Brighton Brilliance

Following her time at Paris FC, the shot stopper moved to Brighton & Hove Albion, where her form has remained rock solid.

But her biggest moment on the continental stage came at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Nnadozie was a brick wall in goal, keeping four clean sheets in six matches and guiding Nigeria to lift the trophy. She was deservedly named Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Omo, to keep four clean sheets for WAFCON no be beans o!

Nnadozie Reacts to Nomination

Speaking in a short video shared on the Super Falcons’ official X (Twitter) handle, Nnadozie expressed her gratitude:

“This nomination means a lot to me. It’s a joy for me and my family. It shows that all the hard work, consistency, and prayers have paid off.”

What This Means for African Football

Nnadozie’s recognition is a major milestone for African women’s football, proving that the continent’s talent can shine on the global stage.

Fans across Nigeria and beyond will now be watching closely to see if she can go all the way and claim the Yacine Trophy.

Super Falcons’ midfield engine, Halimat Ayinde, don open up say the Nigerian squad is not just coming for vibes — they want the WAFCON crown back on their heads, no stories!

According to CAFonline, Ayinde — who currently plays her club football in Sweden for Rosengård — made it known that the team is desperate to restore Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.

WAFCON Final: The Battle for Redemption

Let’s rewind small — three years ago in this same Morocco, the Falcons lost their title in painful fashion. Omo, that penalty shootout still dey pain some of us till now.

They were knocked out in the semi-finals by the Atlas Lionesses, 5-4 on penalties. South Africa later took the trophy after beating Morocco 2-1 in the final.

Fast forward to tonight, and it’s Nigeria vs Morocco again — but this time in the final. E go choke!

Ayinde’s Strong Words

In her words: “This final is not going to be different. We are going to stick together as a team and fight for each other.”

That’s the kind of talk that gives goosebumps. The Falcons are not just showing up, they’re ready to put blood, sweat and tears on that pitch to bring the trophy back home.

Kickoff Loading…

The final will hold tonight at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, and fans are already fired up. Ayinde’s declaration is just the extra ginger Nigerians need ahead of this clash.

So, fingers crossed… Can the Super Falcons make it 10 titles tonight? Or will Morocco pull a shocker again? Stay glued!

Head coach of the Moroccan women’s national team, Jorge Vilda, has fired a strong warning ahead of their WAFCON 2024 final clash with Nigeria’s Super Falcons — and the tension is already building!

The highly anticipated final takes place this Saturday, and Vilda has made it clear: Morocco wants to lift the trophy on home soil — by all means necessary.

“We are here to make history,” the Spanish-born coach declared during a pre-match press conference. “We are playing in front of our home fans, and our players are full of desire and enthusiasm. They want this more than ever.”

Omo, this is going to hot! Nigeria, on the other hand, are chasing their 10th continental title — a new world record in women’s football if they win it. The Super Falcons are no strangers to pressure, and their 2-1 victory over defending champions South Africa in the semi-final proved they’re in no mood to joke.

Morocco edged past Ghana in a penalty shootout to reach the final, and now the stage is set for a true battle of queens.

Despite praising Nigeria’s strength and experience, Vilda is confident in his side’s mental firepower.

“They [Nigeria] have physically strong players and quality individuals with international experience,” he noted. “But this is a final. We are ready, and we’re not backing down.”

The question now is — will Morocco write history, or will Nigeria extend theirs?

As the Super Falcons of Nigeria prepare for their highly anticipated final clash against Morocco in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, fans have been buzzing with one big question: Why is Rinsola Babajide not playing?

Well, head coach Justin Madugu has finally addressed it — and he’s not backing down.

Babajide, who turned heads with a goal and assist in Nigeria’s 3-0 win over Tunisia during the group stage, has barely touched the pitch since then. Her last appearance? Just 13 minutes against Algeria. Since then, it’s been all bench.

Omo this is painful for her fans! Many expected her to shine in the knockout stages, but it seems Coach Madugu had other ideas.

Speaking at the pre-final press conference, the coach explained:

“It’s a team thing, not about an individual. The fact that she has not been on the field of play does not mean she’s not doing well,” he said.

“She’s been instrumental in motivating the team behind the scenes, and very supportive of everything we’re doing. We make decisions based on our strategy — and who knows, she could still play a role tomorrow.”

Madugu has favored the attacking trio of Folashade Ijamilusi, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Esther Okoronkwo in recent games.

So while Rinsola fans dey reason say she dey unfairly sidelined, the coach dey insist say e no be beef, na tactics.

All eyes now on tonight’s final — will Babajide get a chance to shine again?
