Vehicle owners with tinted windows have just been given more breathing space, as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has moved the enforcement date for the tinted glass permit requirement to October 2, 2025. The announcement, made in a statement by Force PRO Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Monday, follows what the police describe as a “significant surge” in online applications through the official portal.

Omo, tinted car owners fit smile small now, but the clock still dey tick!

Why the Extension?

According to Adejobi, the extension will give the Force time to scrutinise applications and ensure permits go only to those who are eligible and qualified, in line with national security concerns.

“The extension will also provide room for continued fine-tuning of both digital and physical verification processes, to maintain the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse,” Adejobi explained.

How to Apply Legitimately

The Police emphasised that the only authorised platform for permit applications remains:

Citizens are urged to ignore unofficial channels and report any extortion or hidden charges to the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

Omo, if dem try bill you extra for corner, just know say Police don drop hotline for that matter!

Public Advisory

The Force thanked Nigerians for their cooperation and stressed its commitment to balancing public convenience with robust security measures.
