Speaking in a recent interview, the UK Minister shared how she once exposed a classmate for cheating during an examination, a move that ultimately led to the boy’s expulsion.
“I Hated Cheating” – Badenoch
According to Badenoch, she had a reputation for being the one who always pointed out wrongdoings in class. She explained that even as a teenager, she disliked dishonesty, especially when it came to academics.
“It wasn’t just the swats in the class. I was the person who would say, that person is copying notes from the other person… even then, I hated cheating because I wanted to be first in the class, and I’d done all the work.”
She recalled a particular day when she was about 14 or 15 years old. In the middle of an exam, she noticed a boy cheating and — omo, this is where the drama starts — she stood up in the exam hall and announced it to everyone.
The Aftermath
According to her account, the boy was expelled following the incident. Surprisingly, instead of praise, Badenoch said many of her classmates were upset with her.
“I was a relatively popular kid, but people said, ‘Why would you do that?’ Someone even told me, ‘You don’t belong here.’”
